ZEON's core business is built on our expertise in purification and extraction of high-value monomers from C₄ and C₅ crude-oil streams. That includes dicyclopentadiene (DCPD), the building block for making Cyclo Olefin Polymer (COP) resin.

ZEON commercially launched ZEONEX^® in 1999. Since that time, we have significantly expanded our capacity to produce COPs and expanded our product lineup. Today, ZEON’s capacity for COPs is in excess of 31,000 metric tons per year via multiple polymerization lines located in Japan.

To maintain the cleanliness and consistency of the COP resin, ZEON produces the resin within a highly-controlled clean environment, and the resin is protected from the outside environment throughout the polymerization, drying and packaging processes.

ZeonorFilm^™ Optical Films

Realizing a market need for the then-emerging LCD market, ZEON developed and commercialized ZeonorFilm. ZeonorFilm combines ZEON's technical expertise for COP resins with our innovative production techniques. Production is carried out within a Class 1000 cleanroom under tightly controlled conditions.

Since its launch in 2002, ZeonorFilm has established itself as the world’s standard for LCD compensation (retardation) film, film touch sensors, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays and life-science devices.

To match strong market demand, ZeonorFilm is produced at three factories, with capacity in excess of 95 million m2 per year. In late 2014, ZEON announced its latest expansion of production capacity for ZeonorFilm.
